Snow Globe

You sell us happiness
In a snow globe,
Advertising brittle dreams.
Building us a mirage
Of a Utopian world.
And we live
Swamped by fleeting desires,
Buying into false ideals
Of joy.

Mirror

In this dark hour
I shine like a mirror
In a long forgotten shrine.
I still possess the power
The divine alliteration
Reflecting rhyme.
Far removed
From familiar territory
I gasp
For an accustomed breath.
I toil to belong,
To find
In an alien land
My identity, my strength.

Love Is Not Real

The lantern burns,
Hands float
In warm light.
Hearts bloat
In the sunshine
Of the night.
In a city of dreams
Our thoughts
Dressed as wild horses
Run free, run wild
In green pastures
Of a dreamland.
Fantasy meets reality
As tears rain down
Drenching our hopes,
Dressing us in truth
That love is not real,
But a figment of our
Over-imaginative hearts.
